For vinyasa teachers
Vinyasa Sequence Builder
A vinyasa sequence builder is a drag-and-drop tool for putting a breath-linked class together pose by pose. In Āsana/OS you pull shapes from a pose library, order them into a flow, set breath counts or timing per pose, and then teach the whole sequence hands-free in Play Mode. It replaces the notebook draft and the arrow-covered spreadsheet most vinyasa teachers rework every week.
What does a vinyasa sequence builder do?
It gives you a canvas for a breath-linked class — poses in order, timing between them, cues on each shape — instead of a blank document. For a broader look at the tool see the yoga sequencing app overview.
- Searchable pose library with Sanskrit and English names, side variations, and modifications.
- Drag-and-drop reordering so an arc can shift after a rehearsal without retyping anything.
- Per-pose breath counts and timers so a five-breath hold and a two-breath transition sit side by side.
- Saved mini-sequences — sun salutes, warm-ups, peak clusters — reusable across classes.
- Auto-builder that seeds a first draft from a theme, then hands the pen back to you.
How is building a vinyasa flow different from other styles?
Vinyasa is built on breath-to-movement and repeatable transitions, so the builder is tuned for short holds, symmetrical sides, and reusable blocks rather than long single-pose timers.
- Breath counts default to inhale/exhale pairs instead of seconds.
- Blocks like Surya A/B live as one draggable item you can still open and edit.
- Left and right sides are separate entries so you can teach them differently on purpose.
- Transitions (vinyasa, half vinyasa, step-through) are pose-library items in their own right.
How do I build a vinyasa class in the app?
The mechanics are the same every time — the craft is deciding what goes where. If you want the teaching side first, read how to sequence a class around a peak pose before opening the builder.
- Open a new sequence and set the class length (usually 60 or 75 minutes).
- Drop in a warm-up block — cat/cow, low lunge, one round of Surya A.
- Build the standing section toward your peak: sun salutes, standing series, peak pose.
- Add the cool-down: seated forward folds, twists, hips.
- Close with a savasana timer and a short arrival cue.
- Open Play Mode, rehearse once with a timer, and adjust the pacing.
Can I teach directly from the sequence?
Yes — Play Mode is the reason the builder is worth using instead of a document.
- Cues read aloud so you can leave the phone on the mat.
- Timer advances between poses at the breath count you set.
- Skip, hold, or add a breath from the lock screen when the room needs it.
- Playlist launches from your linked service on cue.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the builder handle sun salutations as a block?
- Yes. You can drop a full Surya A or B in as a single block and then stretch, replace or repeat it. Under the hood it's still ordered poses, so you can pop the block open and swap Chaturanga for a knees-chest-chin any time.
- Can I set different breath counts on each side?
- Yes. Every pose carries its own breath count or timer, and left/right sides are separate entries so a five-breath Warrior II on the right and a three-breath on the left is one drag apart.
- Can I save a warm-up or peak sequence and reuse it in other classes?
- Yes. Save any run of poses as a mini-sequence and drop it into a new class as one item. Edit the saved version and it propagates to future classes but leaves already-taught ones untouched.
- Does it play music with the sequence?
- You link a Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube playlist to the sequence and Play Mode opens it on cue. Āsana/OS doesn't stream the audio itself — it hands off to the service you already pay for.
- Can I share a vinyasa sequence with another teacher?
- Yes. Publish it to the community and other teachers can save and remix it with credit back to you, or share a private view link with a specific teacher for cover classes.
